Vinyl Record Player
Our Mission: For our capstone project, we wanted to design and fabricate a record player that actuates digital controls through mechanical functions. Created for the at-home-vinyl-enthusiast, our device allows the user to navigate through a playing vinyl to find, replay, and listen to the specific part they seek.
What We Did: We built a linear-tracking tonearm, direct-drive record player that can pause, fast forward, rewind, and replay songs already played. With a memory tracking function, the linear tonearm can track song location and move to a desired location through a servo motor and lead screw mechanical control system. The platter is mounted directly to the DC motor via a custom made motor-mount, allowing a 1:1 turn ratio.

What if your vinyl record player could have digital controls - play/pause, fast forward, rewind, and loop - with just the press of a button?
